News: 25 October 2018Meet our Development Economics team

Working alongside our market leading planners and designers, our national Development Economics team provide tools and insights for developers and investors to respond to the requirements of the National Planning Policy Framework. They have a strong track record in combining planning and valuation skills with socio-demographic and economic analysis to provide a robust evidence base that informs commercial decision-making and successful planning outcomes.

The team apply economic and quantitative analysis to solve problems that are often faced at policy formulation and decision-making, helping our clients understand the local markets. Their sectoral analysis provides insight through reference to demographic, lifestyle and economic characteristics of an area, to create sustainable places.

The team specialise in:

Market intelligence – From actively targeting the ‘right’ locations to informing the type and scale of development, understanding the local market is essential.

The Development Economics team support our clients’ understanding of residential, office, industrial and retail markets through market studies, economic reviews and labour market assessments.

Development Consulting - Understanding the market (occupier demand, development pipeline, rents, yields and capital values) to ensure that development strategies are feasible, viable and deliverable.

Our team of Chartered Surveyors and Town Planners draw upon experience to assist clients through the planning and development management process providing due diligence and strategic advice to landowners, developers and the public sector.

Forecasting – Assessing how the population and economy of an area might change remains critical to the Local Plan process.

Our team has significant experience in the preparation and evaluation of demographic and employment forecasts, establishing the extent of population change within an area, and associated demand for homes, jobs as well as retail, leisure and community facilities.

Impact Assessment – Analysing the social, economic and environmental impacts of development.

Creating sustainable communities means investing to deliver an area’s economic and social need. Well planned development should play a part in delivering sustainable and diverse communities, recognising a need to support future generations. With market-leading research and mapping tools we enable our clients to substantiate and communicate the full range of benefits that their proposals will deliver.
