Our Planning team has secured permission, on behalf of Farland Developments, The Prince’s Foundation and Barton plc, for 250 homes at Barton Transport’s former headquarters in Chilwell, Nottinghamshire.
The development will see the transformation of the prominently disused, 11-acre brownfield site, into high quality homes, streets and green space which incorporate the area’s heritage, following extensive community consultation using the Prince’s Foundations ‘BIMBY’ (Beauty In My Back Yard) Principles.
The scheme will deliver a sequence of character areas within the site reflecting the varied architecture in the local area from Regency style town houses to apartments with an industrial urban character. Farland Developments have a clear vision based on the traditional principles of place-making to deliver high-quality buildings to stand the test of time.
Crucially, the scheme was the subject of extensive community and stakeholder consultation. An important aspect of this process was the workshops with key stakeholders and a public exhibition with the local community in February 2016. Through these discussions, local residents and stakeholders had a say in development in their community and allowed them to take ownership of the scheme. This allowed the development team to meet a wide variety of diverse objectives and interests.

Broxtowe Borough Council resolved to grant planning permission for the scheme in May 2017 and work is set to begin in the Autumn.
