News: 26 September 2017Work on new housing scheme to begin after planning approval

Work on a Barton Willmore designed, 168-home scheme on Salisbury Road in Marlborough will begin in November after securing planning permission for developer, Redrow Homes.

The attractive residential development on land to the west of the town will be 40% affordable homes, in line with Wiltshire Council’s requirements.

Designed by our Architecture team, the scheme responds positively to the site’s context, typography and landscape setting with two distinct character areas created. Properties range from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom detached family homes.

Avril Chadwick, Design Director based in our Bristol office, said: “The new development on Salisbury Road will provide high quality homes that will complement the character of Marlborough. This has been achieved by designing a scheme that not only fits with the typography of the land but also reflects the materials and aesthetics of the historic market town.”

The application was approved at Wiltshire Council’s Strategic Planning Committee in September where the Council’s Urban Design Officer praised the simple yet distinguished character areas.
