A group of intrepid fundraisers from our Manchester team didn’t let Friday’s bad weather stop them in their tracks after their initial plan to take part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge was scrapped.
Instead of letting the weather beat them, the group of 10 property professionals including clients from Muse Developments and Bloor Homes donned their walking boots and waterproofs and walked an impressive 22 miles in 9 hours with the team starting at Deansgate Train Station in Manchester City Centre walking to the recently re-opened Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire.
In doing so, they smashed their target of £1,000 and will instead donate £1,870 to Wood Street Mission, a children’s charity helping children and families living on a low income in Manchester and Salford, as well as The Wellspring, a Stockport-based charity that provides referrals into housing preventing rough sleeping.
Organiser and Planning Associate Nicole Roe said: “When we saw the weather forecast we were obviously disappointed, but it spurred us on to come up with a plan b to raise money for these worthwhile charities and also make our own small contribution by visiting the recently re-opened Whaley Bridge with us celebrating our feat by enjoying a drink or two at The Railway pub.”
