As part of Barton Willmore's support for the Slippers for Shelter campaign, our teams have been nominated to get their slippers out in a range of embarrassing situations, all in the name of raising money for Shelter.
For our lucky Bristol team this means taking to Queens Square in Bristol, for a public morris dancing lesson... in their slippers!
Claire Good, team Secretary in the office and a keen Morris Dancer, nominated the team - including Partners James DeHavilland and Simon Prescott, to don their slippers and learn a stick dance called 'Tinner's Rabbit' accompanied by live musicians and surrounded by the general public.
Claire said: "I have been dancing with a side called Somerset Morris since I was 17, I took up Morris for my Gold Duke of Edinburgh award! Tinners is a dance I teach to groups of people when we’re out and about, and should be a perfect introduction for the team although it will be interesting letting them loose with sticks!"
Lasting for around half an hour, the dare will take place on Tuesday 20th December at 1pm in Queen’s Square, Bristol, if the team manage to raise £200. The team, of around 20 people, will be joined by musicians playing the Pipe nad Tabor including Claire's daughter Rhianne who will be playing violin. Claire will also be assisted by dancers from her Somerset Morris group.
However, the dare will only take place if the team can raise £200 for Shelter. If you'd like to help them reach their target then you can pledge your donation here.
Hats off to all those who have agreed to take part from the Bristol team... Do you recongise any of these names?
