We are delighted to announce that The Glentress Masterplan (supplementary Guidance) has been shortlisted for the Scottish Quality in Planning Awards 2016 taking place tonight.
SAQP awards are one of the Scottish Government's most prestigious events to acknowledge achievements in planning and Barton Willmore are delighted to be attending alongside Scottish Borders Council and Forestry Commission Scotland with the Glentress Masterplan shortlisted within the Partnership Category.
Glentress is a nationally important woodland environment; one of Europe’s foremost mountain biking and recreation centres and an operational commercial forest.
Barton Willmore prepared a development framework and masterplan, working closely FCS, SBC, key stakeholders and the community throughout an extensive and innovative engagement process.
Michael Ward, Associate Urban Designer at Barton Willmore’s Edinburgh office said: “The Barton Willmore team have developed a strong track record and reputation on engagement led master planning. Going back a few years, Glentress was really the first major job that we had an opportunity to trial this approach. It’s been a long process but an incredibly valuable one. Credit to everyone in the broader partnership team that has contributed… let’s hope the judges agree!”
