Chester Zoo is home to 8,000 animals in 110 acres, and welcomes 1.4 million people each year, making it the UK’s most visited wildlife attraction. The Zoo is in the midst of a major revitalisation and expansion plan, adding a new entrance and shopping quarter and expanding into 55 hectares of the North Cheshire Green Belt to add several exciting new wildlife showhouses and gardens to an already award-winning destination.

- 55 hectares
- Home to 8,000 animals
- 1.4 million visitors each year
Our design teams developed a masterplan for the phased expansion including 'the heart of Africa' - an immersive experience biodome. Throughout the project the design proposals have reflected the zoo's key message of conservation, education and sustainability with a range of innovative proposals.
The new entrance and Diamond Jubilee Quarter were opened by HM Queen Elizabeth II as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour in May 2012.
