We were instructed to undertake planning work in relation to six sites across Redcar and Cleveland to promote and obtain planning permission for extra care facilities.
- Respond to need of 200 units of specialist forms of accommodation
- Individual facilities such as kitchens and bathrooms, plus communal facilities, domestic support and personal care
- Offered as affordable rented units
These are specifically designed to suit people with long-term conditions or disabilities that make living in their own home difficult but at the same time do not necessarily require accommodation in a residential care home. To reflect this, each of the development promotes a degree of independent living where residents have their own front door and facilities such as kitchens and bathrooms, but also have access to some on-site communal facilities and domestic support and personal care if required.
Once constructed, the developments will be run by Coast and Country Housing, a registered housing provider and all are to be offered as affordable rented units.
The two larger developments of Wheatacres and Westfield Way also incorporate communal areas such as lounges and include a bistro, a hairdressers and treatment rooms to promote interaction between residents and the wider community.
