Fareham Shopping Centre

Our planners and architects collaborated to secure planning permission for the comprehensive refurbishment of a large section of Fareham Shopping Centre on West Street in Fareham, where falling foot fall was rendering the large number of small-scale retail units unviable.

The project included a lengthy public consultation period with local residents, traders and neighbouring action groups, enabling us to address a number of concerns to be incorporated into the design, ensuring that the design best served the needs of the local community.

Project Details

  • Large anchor store across two floors
  • Improved pedestrian and vehicle access to the shopping centre
  • High-quality multi-storey car park

The design proposals reconfigured and extended the shopping centre to provide space for a large anchor store across two floors. The design not only provides an enhanced double-height frontage to one of the shopping centre's key internal squares, but improves both pedestrian and vehicle access to the shopping centre.

The proposals also include the demolition of a sub-standard car park and construction of a high-quality multi-storey car park over the top of the new development to provide maximum on-site access for shoppers. The project included a lengthy public consultation period with local residents, traders and neighbouring action groups. This process allowed for a number of local concerns to be incorporated into the design, ensuring that the design best served the needs of the local community.
