Our teams have produced a Masterplan and Development Framework on behalf of Forestry Commission Scotland for Glentress Forest, Peebles.
Glentress is Scotland’s foremost mountain biking facility and the commission focussed on providing an exemplary visitor experience and realising its development potential. A particular goal is for improved visitor facilities and additional activity areas for mountain biking and walking.
- 15+ years development
- Retail and commercial functions as well as for tourism and leisure potential
- Up to 50,000 sqft of flexible floorspace
Our team combined its masterplanning, consultation, planning and research skills to develop a robust 15+ year vision to allow proactive, appropriate and sustainable development within the Tweed Valley Forest Park.
Central to the success of the project was the level of engagement with Scottish Borders Council, stakeholders, the local community and visitors. A series of interactive and innovative design workshops and exhibitions were organised to develop concepts and test masterplan options. This process was carefully recorded and formed a key element of the Framework, with a preferred masterplan selected.
The Masterplan identifies the potential for up to 50,000 sqft of flexible floorspace, capable of accommodating retail and commercial functions as well as for tourism and leisure.
