Our team were appointed as the planning, stakeholder engagement and environmental consultant for the major new Salisbury Plain Heritage Centre – the future home of the Royal Artillery Museum’s historic collection.
The project will see the internationally renowned collection move from London to the new purpose-built Salisbury Plain Heritage Centre facility at Larkhill – combining the military history of the Royal Artillery with the rich and diverse heritage of Salisbury Plain.
The proposed location of the heritage centre will look out over vast swaths of historic grassland, which has been a focus of military life for the past 300 years.
Our team will be working to minimise the impact of the 6,000 sqm development on the surrounding nationally and internationally protected environment while enhancing the attraction for visitors to Salisbury Plain and the surrounding historic monuments.
The Salisbury Plain Heritage Centre is a unique project that will represent the next chapter in the area's military and cultural heritage. As well as state-of-the-art interactive displays, the Heritage Centre will include open outdoor spaces including viewing terraces, an extensive trench system, a cafe, a children’s play area, a community garden and an enhanced events space.
