After outline planning permission was granted in 2010 for development of the 44 hectare Southall Gasworks site, we project managed the Environmental Statement and undertook the socio-economic and Retail and Leisure Assessments to accompany a successful S73 application application to vary a condition attached to the outline planning permission relating to the design.
- 44 hectare redevelopment
- 3,750 homes
- 24 hectares of open space
The scheme will see the redevelopment of the former Southall Gasworks site, located in the London Borough of Ealing, for a major mixed use development comprising up to 3,750 residential units, 24ha open space, retail, office, education and healthcare uses. The site is heavily contaminated, associated with the former gasworks use and redevelopment presented the opportunity to regenerate and remediate the site as well as providing much needed housing.
By successfully managing a large multidisciplinary team and providing specialised advice on the EIA Strategy for the s73 application, we were able to ensure robust environmental assessments were undertaken whilst maintaining maximum flexibility for the future delivery of the scheme. Subsequently a detailed planning application for Phase A of the development received unanimous approval at planning committee in May 2016 and Barton Willmore continue to provide EIA advice.
