Toyoko Inn

The site is owned by Toyoko Inn, who has recently acquired sites in other major City Centres within the UK. It is considered that the proposed redevelopment will offer a distinctive product in the Manchester hotel market, which would add value to the existing offer in the City. The proposed scheme will deliver a high-quality building on what is currently a ‘gap site’, bringing a Grade II Listed Building back into active use.

The proposal is for a new 390 bed hotel within a new 26 storey (+roof plant) building and refurbishment of the former Union Bank building (Grade II Listed Building). It also incorporates both front of house facilities such as reception, meeting rooms and bar/restaurant alongside ancillary services such as offices, kitchens, stores and sub-station.

These project objectives are summarized as follow:

  • Establish an appropriate form and massing development on the site in townscape and urban design terms.
  • To reflect a considered approach and sensitive response to the adjoining Listed Building .
  • Activate the ground floor streetscape
