In addition to securing enhancements to the existing studio facilities at the site, planning permission has been secured for a further 4,000 sq metres of multi-function studio, production and office space.
The proposals are supported by Scottish Enterprise, Scotland’s main economic development agency and Creative Scotland, the public body that supports the arts, screen and creative industries across Scotland.
The new facilities will help to meet the increased demand for studio space across the UK and Europe created by the recent growth in internationally mobile film and television production. Demand is particularly great in the high-end television production market, a market which Wardpark Studios, the production site for the popular Scottish historical drama series, Outlander, already caters for.
The Edinburgh Planning team worked closely with North Lanarkshire Council to ensure that the proposed design will have minimal impact on the surrounding area.
