News: 23 January 2018Over 2000 new homes for Cambridge...

We have helped secure outline permission for the delivery of 2,350 new homes in Cambridgeshire for Bovis Homes and Taylor Wimpey as part of the MCA Developments Ltd consortium following the signing of a Section 106 agreement.

Our Cambridge Planning team received permission from South Cambridgeshire District Council for the development at Cambourne West, a new settlement which we have been involved with since it’s conception in 1998 and which to date has delivered over 3,500 homes to the region. This latest phase, to the West, will become the fourth village, enhancing the Town’s provision of housing and local amenities while linking to existing homes.

In total the scheme will provide 2,350 homes, at a mix of tenures, as well as land for new primary and secondary schools, 76 hectares of green infrastructure made up of sports and leisure facilities as well as open space. The development will also include retail units and up to seven hectares of employment space.

The expansion to Cambourne will be built on land around the existing secondary school and extends from the tree belt to the west of Lower Cambourne to the A1198, and from the A428 in the north to the Caxton Bypass in the south.

Partner, Gareth Wilson said: “The granting of planning permission by South Cambridgeshire District Council for this scheme will provide a significant proportion of the new homes that will be built in Cambourne. At the same time, it will also provide a number of additional benefits to the wider community because of land being made available for new schools, employment space and leisure facilities.”

A spokesperson from MCA Developments said: “We are pleased with South Cambridgeshire District Council's resolution to grant planning permission at Cambourne West. The development can go a long way to meet local housing need in the short to medium term and we look forward to continuing to work with South Cambridgeshire District Council and the local community as we bring the proposals to fruition."
