Plans for 144 new homes at Waverley have been submitted to Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council following a significant land deal.
Avant Homes has been supported by our team in developing the plans for a mix of two, three, four and five bedroom family homes, following the 5.2 hectares of land being sold to them in a deal completed at the end of 2020.
Planning Associate Jane Beckett said: “These plans represent a key part of the progress in the development of the Waverley new community – bringing much-needed family housing to this mixed use area.
“Waverley is Yorkshire’s largest brownfield regeneration site which is absolutely integral to the rejuvenation of this area, and supports the Government’s levelling up agenda, as well as its “build back better” campaign to drive recovery following the coronavirus pandemic.
“Developing good quality housing is an important part of realising this recovery. Avant Homes’ plans are high quality, sustainable and in harmony with the Core Strategy.”
The former colliery site has been remediated and restored and is already the site of 1,020 homes which are part of a new community that will eventually comprise over 3,000 homes.
Commenting on the plans, Avant Homes Yorkshire Managing Director, Chris Coley, said: “Subject to planning, we are looking forward to further enabling the regeneration of Waverley by delivering more of Avant’s popular design-led homes at our proposed new development.”
Avant are looking forward to continuing to delivery on this wider development which is becoming more established every year.”
Our team has worked extensively on the Waverley development – on residential elements, retail parks and the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) which is home to the likes of Rolls-Royce, McLaren Automotive and the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.
Jane added: “Waverley’s mix of residential and commercial development is really important to unlocking economic growth potential in the Sheffield City Region.
“It’s a privilege for Barton Willmore to play a key part in realising this ambitious vision that will be transformative for this part of the country.”
