Stuart joined Barton Willmore as an Associate in the Leeds office before becoming a director in 2017 and Partner in 2021. Stuart works across both our Leeds and Newcastle offices providing over 18 years of experience working in both the public and private sectors.

Stuart’s provides immediate planning advice to achieve short term solutions to a number of clients whilst also looking at long terms strategies for large strategic sites across the region.  He has successfully promoted a number of sites for landowners, housebuilders and developers through a number of Local Plan Examinations, securing significant housing and employment allocations across the north of England, including the Maltkiln new settlement in Harrogate.

Further to this Stuart has worked on a number of significant regeneration projects across the region, including the redevelopment of the former Tetley Brewery site in Leeds, the former Gascoigne Wood colliery in Selby and the expansion of Harrogate Spring Water, as well as experience and strong interest in the education sector.
