Our team provided architectural services to transform an existing 1980s office building in the heart of Reading Town Centre, minutes from the railway station. The four storey 39,926 sqft building is in the heart of the Station Hill development and is one of the first buildings to be completed in the area.

The retention of the existing fabric of the building was vital when redesigning 9 Greyfriars Road. Although elements of the existing shell have been altered, such as removing some of the concrete, keeping the skeleton of the structure was key in the new design complimenting the existing building. Custom-designed fritted glass, double height space entrance and core layouts linking to each level are just some of the design elements that make this project a success. Using new colours and materials throughout the refurb has given the structure a new fresh identity and creates the illusion of a new build.
In May 2017, 9 Greyfriars won a BCO Award for Refurbished/Recycled Workplace for the South of England and South Wales. The project will now move into the National Awards and compete against other offices throughout the UK!
