The regeneration of the Ocean Estate, Tower Hamlets has seen the delivery of 819 residential units and 1,300 sqm of commercial and community uses across five separate sites.
Not only are vital new homes provided, but the regeneration has been focused on providing residents with employment, training and volunteering opportunities for a long-term future.
Cross-funding from the scheme has also allowed for improvement works across the wider estate and in total 1,200 social-rented homes will be refurbished and big improvements to the landscape and community facilities made.
Outline and full planning permissions were secured in March 2010 and Reserved Matters approval for three of the sites was achieved in December 2010. We were also instructed by East Homes to take forward Phase 2 of the Ocean Estate and secured planning permission for a further 250 units in 2014. The scheme provides new homes that meet the needs of the existing local community and cross subsidy for environmental improvement works to the remainder of the estate.
